Student Greencard Information

WHAT IS A STUDENT GREENCARD?

A Student Greencard looks and works like an ordinary Metro Greencard on Metro Busses but also lets students get a cheaper fare when going to and from school on other bus services.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR A STUDENT GREENCARD?

Any student, fare paying and those eligible for free bus travel, who is under 18 years of age or turning 18 during the school year
AND
Travels to and from school on a fare charging bus other than Metro, Merseylink or Tassielink. (Students travelling on Merseylink, Tassielink and Metro can get a card to access discount fares direct from the operator.)

 

FOR STUDENTS WHO PAY A FARE

  • Students will need a Greencard to access a discounted fare.
  • If you have a Greencard you don't need to get another one.  You can just use the one you have.
  • Show your Greencard when getting on the bus and you pay a discounted fare of $1.00.
  • Without the Greencard the maximum fare is $1.30.
  • You can use your student Greencard to access the discount fare and to store credit when you catch a Metro bus before of after school, on the weekends or during school holidays.  (refer www.metrotas.com.au for terms and conditions of use).
  • If your card is lost/stolen and you need a replacement card you will need to apply at www.metrotas.com.au and pay a re-issue fee. 

FOR STUDENTS ELIGIBLE FOR FREE (CONCESSION) TRAVEL

  • Greencards for free travel have the year of expiry printed on them.
    • Students will need a student Greencard to get the free travel entitlement while travelling to and from school between the hours of 7.00am and 6.00pm.
      • Show your Greencard when getting on the bus to get free travel.
        • Without the Greencard the maximum fare is $1.30.
          • You can use your student Greencard to access discount fare and to store credit when you catch a Metro bus before of after school, on the weekends or during school holidays.  (refer www.metrotas.com.au for terms and conditions of use).
            • If your card is lost/stolen you will need to apply for a replacement and pay a fee. A replacement Greencard with a free travel entitlement will cost $11.00.

Additional Sunday Services and Sunday Timetable Changes

Effective from Sunday 5thFebruary Derwent Valley Link will operate an additional return service between New Norfolk and Hobart on Sundays. The change will mean that existing Sunday service times will also change. 

New timetables will be available from the drivers from Monday 30th January.
